Dr Jochen Legewie is head of the CNC office in Tokyo and since 2005 VDA Representative in Japan.

Prior to his time at CNC, he was head of communications at Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Tokyo.

Between 1996 and 2001 he was Vice Director of the German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo. From 1998 he also headed the Institute’s business division.

In 1989 he worked for Keidanren, the Japanese federation of industries. He also worked as a freelance journalist for many years.

Fluent in English and Japanese, he is the author of numerous books on business and has been widely published in various German, English and Japanese newspapers and journals.

He is one of the few foreign members of Keizai Doyukai, the Japan Association of Corporate Executives.

Dr Jochen Legewie studied economics at the Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, and also in Cologne where he was awarded his PhD in economics in 1996.
